USA East Zion Viewpoint
If I want to escape the ever increasing crowds of visitors to Zion National Park, this is one of my favorite spots. That said, I go there frequently.
Photography Tips
The views looking both east and west from this spot are outstanding. I like to come here after a heavy rainfall, more likely during monsoon season (July thru Sept) or during spring snowmelt when water pools in the sandstone water pockets.
Travel Information
From the east entrance to Zion, drive west 0.9 miles/1.45 km to a pullout on the right. From the eastern end of the Zion Mt.Carmel Tunnel, drive east 4.4 miles (7.1 km) to the pullout. There’s room for 4 or 5 vehicles. Carefully cross the oftentimes busy road and climb the short but steep sandy bank following the narrow path roughly southwest for about 200 yards until you gain the apex of the sandstone. Avoid trails of use that are marked “keep off” for soil rehab/conservation.
