USA Mt. Rushmore
Features the 60-foot-high (18 m) carvings of United States Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln blasted out of the granite mountainside using dynamite and a process called “honeycombing”.
Photography Tips
The monument can be seen from many different perspectives including the approach along the “”Avenue of Flags”, along the highways near the monument, through the tunnels on Iron Mountain Road, and at a viewing platform near the beginning of the Presidential Trail at the Southeast end of the Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center where this was taken. It is best photographed after sunrise and before 9 AM when it starts getting crowded. There is an evening lighting ceremony that is also a good time for photography. Check the monument website for times and dates.
