USA Conata Basin Overlook
The Yellow Mounds area of Badlands National Park is one of the park’s prettiest areas. It’s mostly white and subtle red hues give way to a much more vibrant yellow layer. The yellow layer is what was once the floor of an inland sea in the Great Plains area and is one of the oldest layers of rock in Badlands NP.
Photography Tips
This picture was taken from the Conata Basin Overlook which loops eastward 0.8 miles/1.3 km from the Yellow Mounds Overlook. Great sunset location.
