Travel Information
There is ample parking at the Old Faithful Inn parking lot. Restrooms, a cafe, and souvenir shops are also nearby. Do not wander off of established trails or walkways. Violations can result in prosecution including fines and incarceration. Unfortunately, penalties are frequent and severe due to tourists frequently ignoring posted signs warning of the danger in thermal areas. People have been seriously injured or killed after accidentally falling in the springs or breaking through the thin crust around them. Wind-blown leaves and pine needles can blanket and obscure thin thermal crusts. People are also injured (sometimes fatally) every year after getting too close to wild animals. The park is teeming with wildlife including bison, moose, elk, grizzly bears, wolves, and coyotes. Due to their docile appearance, people often get too close to bison, which are the leading cause of injuries and fatalities in the park.
