USA Cayo Costa State Park
This is a Florid State Park that has preserved the natural landscape of this barrier island in teh Gulf of Mexico. One camp camp there in tents or in one of the 12 rustic cabins.
Photography Tips
Is best for sunset spots. A mix of wide angle and telephoto would be good here. There is lots of good bird photography as well. Sea turtles nest here in summer. Bring props like sand pails, sea shells, umbrellas for foreground interest.
Travel Information
You must take a boat taxi (Tropic Star Cruises) from Bokeelia on Pine Island to get here. It is a one hour boat ride one way. Pine Island is just NW of Fort Myers, Florida, USA. Once on the island, (Cayo Costa) a trolley can take you the 3/4 mile to the Gulf side where the sunsets can be taken. You can also walk there from the boat docks on the sound side of teh island.
