USA Waipío Valley Overlook, Hawaii
Waipi’o Valley is a beautiful spot where the ending for the movie “Waterworld” was filmed. Until recently, you could drive down the steep (40% grade) and crumbling road to the valley floor and the black sand beach. Now, because of concerns of rock slides and the poor condition of the road, the only way to get there is via a guided tour in a van (which we did). Unfortunately, the van didn’t stop much and only briefly when it did it did so I didn’t get to photograph it much.
