USA Pink Canyon (Pastel Canyon)

A shallow canyon just south of the more famous “Fire Wave” in Valley of Fire State Park. The canyon walls vary from bright pink to yellow and orange. The canyon forms the southernmost segment of the “Seven Wonders Loop” trail that also includes the “Fire Wave”.

The entire loop is very photogenic. The vast expanse of colorful sandstone above and on both sides of the canyon is spectacular, especially around the blue hour. The “canyon” (really more of a wash) is normally dry and very rarely holds water. It’s relatively easy to find a place to scramble out of the canyon to explore the area above. It’s very easy to descend and ascend from the canyon. You may of course opt to turn around and retrace your steps back to the parking area but I highly recommend completing the loop which is very photogenic the entire way.

Near the northern end of Mouse’s Tank Road, park at Parking Area Three on either side of the road. Follow the trail leading to Fire Wave (also very photogenic and is the most popular trail in the park) before dropping into the shallow wash that is Pink Canyon.
