USA Radio Tower Rock

From the parking area, most visitors’ destination is “The New Wave” loop hike which doesn’t live up to its namesake “The Wave” in Coyote Buttes but is still very impressive. Radio Tower Rock is regarded as a secondary “detour” but is worth the very short stroll to get there.

Photography Tips

Light is best mid to late afternoon.

Travel Information

To get there from Page, drive northwest on US-89 N towards Kanab, past the Glen Canyon Dam. Just one mile past the dam, turn left.

From the Utah/Arizona border, drive 7.3 miles/11.75 km and turn right (directly across from the Glen Canyon Dam Access Road). Take the dirt road and turn right almost immediately after crossing a cattle guard. Drive about 150 yards to a dirt/gravel parking area on the left. Park there (no fee) and take the obvious trail. At the first fork in the trail to “The New Wave”, turn left and after another minute turn left at the next fork that leads to Radio Tower Rock. Round trip from the parking area directly to Radio Tower Rock is about 30 minutes. If you opt to do the loop hike to The New Wave first (highly recommended) you’ll likely spend about 1.5 hours.
