USA Savage River Trailhead
In late September, the brush in Denali National Park was various shades of red and orange. While this day was foggy and heavily overcast, the drive through the park to the Savage River Trailhead was still spectacular.
Photography Tips
A sign at the trailhead says “You will encounter Grizzly Bears on this trail. Stay 300 feet away.”
Uh…..OK. Since it was beginning to snow (wink wink), and I wasn’t carrying bear spray on this trip, I opted to enjoy the view from the trailhead.

Travel Information
From the Denali National Park entrance, drive west on Park Road for 15 miles to the trailhead parking area. Ample parking, vault toilet. In late September, park officials frequently close the road to private vehicles at this point. Check with rangers at the visitor center before traveling there.
