USA Thor's Well
This interesting natural feature is a sinkhole in lava that allows the waves to flow into it during high tide.
Photography Tips
Come during high tide and get as close as you dare. The water will flow around you ankles; don't get sucked into this meat grinder! Try to stand upwind as spray will cover your lens/filter quickly. Go for a 1/2 second shutter speed; you may need to use a ND filter to achieve this. Hope for a sunset, which is best in winter, as in summer there is often a fog layer, as in this photo, during most days.
Travel Information
Travel south on Highway 101 from Yachats along the Oregon Coast for about 2 miles (3km) to Cape Perpetua. Look for the sign for Cooks Chasm on the right and park at the obvious site at the roadside and walk down to the site.
