Photography Tips

You may visit this spot for it's dunes. Most likely the dunes have vehicle tracks on them. If you go for images of offroad vehicles and motorbikes traversing the dunes, then this is the spot. If you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle then you could climb the dunes yourself. But learn beforehand about driving in soft sand and what to to do if you get stuck.

Travel Information

Dumont Dunes, also known as Big Dune, lie within the Amargosa Valley. They are located about 100 miles south-west of Las Vegas. To reach the dunes, you can take US-95 and turn south onto Valley View Blvd, following the road until you see the brown sign for Big Dune and then turning onto Big Dunes Road. It's about 1 1/2 hrs from Furnace Creek in Death Valley.
A few miles to the West by car and a hike are the Ibex Dunes which are less visited and likely have undisturbed dunes. Another Photographer has a Spot published on Locationscout.
