USA Alki Point Lighthouse, Seattle
Another delightful lighthouse, the Alki Point lighthouse is located at the very tip of West Seattle. It gives a great sunset location. There are many delightful cafes to enjoy an early dinner as you wait for the sun to go down. Finish up the evening with a blue hour shot of Seattle as you return to the freeway.
Photography Tips
Bring a really wide-angle lens as the position is very close to the lighthouse and hard to get with a standard lens. Use the ephemeris to time your visit for when the sun is in the correct position; it will be in spring or autumn.
Travel Information
This is a tough approach. The lighthouse itself is apparently on private property and only open on occasional hours and those certainly are not at sunset hours. The only approach is to wait for a low tide and walk around from the street and hope for a good sunset. Being federal property there is NO trespassing so you can only get as close as the fence.
