USA Lake Arthur
This was an excellent location to capture a rare, very strong aurora visible in western PA. It provided a view to the North and a lake to reflect the lights.
Photography Tips
To capture the northern lights, use a tripod, manual focus, manual exposure, as low of an ISO as you can (800-1200) as wide of an aperture as you can (1.8-2.8), and play with shutter speeds from 3.2 to 13 seconds to determine the best exposure. If the lights are moving fast, prioritize shutter speed over ISO. if they are not moving prioritize lower ISO over longer shutter speed.
