USA The Flower Fields at Carlsbad, California
A tourist attraction located off the Palomar Airport Road exit of Interstate 5 in Carlsbad, California. The fields are 55 acres of ranunculus flowers. The main section is usually set up as bands of colors in stripes and a side field where the flag of the United States is recreated in flowers. The fields are typically in peak bloom between March and early May. Much of the rest of the year, the fields look like a dirt lot.
Photography Tips
You can obtain a ticket to walk in the fields. You must stick to pathways and designated cut out areas. You may not roam freely among the flowers. They do allow cameras, phones, and tripods within the fields for personal photography, but no additional gear. They do not allow you to bring in or be your own photographer for professional portrait shoots. They require you to use of of theirs for that purpose.
For those not interested in going into the fields, the fields can be viewed for free from the the Outlet mall just to the west of the fields at the lowest point and there is a sidewalk along Armada Drive with viewing stations above the fields that allows for a view of the fields as well as the Pacific Ocean in the distance. It's an excellent spot for sunset views.
They don't allow drones in the fields, but you can launch from surrounding areas, You can get shots from outside the fields fine, both in the air and on the ground. The area is in the flight path of the Palomar regional airport so advanced permission through LAANC is required for some sections.
