This is on a hill east of Grand Prismatic Spring, you need the height to capture the magnificence of the spring, it is very hard to shoot up close and capture the magic. Many shot it from the air. For years it has been a bushwhack trail, but the park has finally put a real trail to the vantage point, I don't know if it is open yet (spring 2017). Allow about 2.5 hours.

Photography Tips

The hike to this spot is worth the time if you have multiple days in Yellowstone. Yellowstone is so full of wonder though, this time investment might be high for a day trip. Go to this much work, shoot a panorama.
