You should bring a normal or telephoto lens. My photo was shot with a 70 mm lens on a full-frame camera.
Turn your aperture to 8 and your ISO low, to 100, to get a clean sharp shop. In bad light conditions, you are going to need a tripod to compensate for the long exposure times.

Parking is probably a problem, so take the public transport. Take the bus to C St NW & 17th St NW or the metro to Federal Triangle.
