Argentina Ruta Naconal 40 crossing Rio Diamante
The section of the Ruta 40 between El Sosneado in the south and Perdriel in the north, in the province of Mendoza, was considered to be the worst of the entire road between Patagonia and the border with Bolivia. It is now probably one of the best developed. It runs almost dead straight across a large plateau on relatively new tarmac. There are only a few stream and river crossings, such as this one over the Rio Diamante, where the road curves through the associated gorge.
