Australia Shell Beach
At the narrowest point of the Peron peninsula, on its east coast, lies a broad beach of small, white cockle: Shell Beach.
For several thousand years, these shells have accumulated here to a several meters thick layer. Rain has dissolved calcium carbonate from it and cemented with it the actually loose shell beach. Shell blocks from this beach have been used to build houses in Denham for a while.
