Australia Hutt Lagoon Pink Lake
Hutt Lagoon is a marine salt lake that sits in a dune swale adjacent to the Indian Ocean coast.
Depending on the weather, this salt lake is pale pink to coppery in colour and is therefore called Pink Lake. In the water with a salinity of up to 35% lives an algae that produces beta carotene. This is obtained commercially here. In separate pools water evaporates, salt and algae are apparently concentrated. Accordingly, the salt crystallizes in many places and in the water float salt flakes.
