Australia Rottnest Island Quokkas
When the first Europeans entered the island in 1696, they had the impression it was full of rats. Therefore, it got the name Rottnest (rat nest). In fact, the animals are short-tailed kangaroos or quokkas. They live exclusively in southwestern Western Australia. Usually, they are nocturnal. But tourists are feeding them on Rottnest Island despite prohibition. So the mini-kangaroos have changed their daily rhythm and present themselves cute.
