Hohensalzburg Fortress, also known as Festung Hohensalzburg, is a medieval fortress located in Salzburg, Austria. It is situated on top of Festungsberg, a small hill overlooking the city of Salzburg. Hohensalzburg Fortress is one of the largest and best-preserved medieval castles in Europe.

It is a crowded place so using a long lens and focusing on parts of the castle can be one tip.

Travel Information

We stayed at a hotel close by so no parking was needed. But the mountain train taking you up to the castle can be crowdy. Pre-book and get first in line.
