Tips for your trip to Salzburg

About the location

Very characteristic are the mountains around the valley and the river Salzach, which is flowing through the city. The historical centre of the city is a UNESCO world heritage since 1996 and the famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg at 1756.

The river and the many different views over the town towards the castle of Hohensalzburg are great themes for photography.

Traveling

You can travel to the city via the Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart, which is named after the famous composer. In general it's good to come here by car if it's possible, because other great places like national park Berchtesgaden or Hallstatt aren't that far away from Salzburg. Keep in mind though, that you need a toll vignette to use the high- and freeways in Autria, which can be bought at the border at any service area.
