Austria Mountain road, Hochkönig

The Hochkönig region in Austria is a stunning alpine destination nestled in Salzburg, known for its majestic mountain landscapes and year-round outdoor activities. Dominated by the towering Hochkönig peak, the area is part of the broader Ski Amadé region, offering extensive ski slopes in the winter and scenic hiking and biking trails in the summer. The autumn season is especially a significant period to visit to capture this exceptional foliage. Also, the visitor numbers are lower. Therefore, you can enjoy this unique region with fewer people around you!

I used my drone to capture the beautiful autumn colors around the Hochkönigstraße. I was there at the beginning of October as a small reference for the travel period. An ND filter might be excellent for a higher saturation in the colors. Be aware of local regulations before operating your drone here.

I parked my car at a nearby turn-off. There are also some trailheads nearby where you can park your car, but the Schimmelgrabenstraße is the closest one to get as close as possible with your drone to this exact location.
