Belgium Broydenborg Castle
A first castle was built in 1540 by Balthasar van Wissenborch. Broydenborg Castle was originally a playground or Hof van Plaisantie. The castle had several aristocratic owners until it came into the possession of banker Jozef Verbist in 1830. He had some of the older outbuildings demolished and built a new late-classic castle diagonally behind the old court. Adrien-Eugène van der Beken-Pasteel, owner from 1871 to 1929, extended the castle to obtain the current view.
In 1928, the castle park became public domain. The rest of the estate and the castle were bought by the Hoboken municipality in 1929.
At present, the castle is used by various associations.
