Belgium Meerlenhof Castle
Already around 1550, the Antwerp brewer Jacques Van Male established a court of pleasure here. The current building, however, dates from the early twentieth century: Evrard Havenith completed Meerlenhof Castle in 1918. It was built on the foundations of the old castle.
The castle suffered a great deal of damage in the Second World War, due to several V bombs falling in the immediate vicinity. In 1963, the municipality of Hoboken bought the castle and, after a thorough renovation, several government departments found a home there.
The castle has been inhabited again since 2015.
