Bonaire Yellow Slave Huts
There are 3 or 4 slave hut sites on Bonaire. This is where the slaves slept when they were waiting to load incoming ships with salt which is one of the main exports from the island. It is a huge part of the history and development of the island. The triangular obelisk was also a marker to communicate to the ships where they were supposed to dock.
Photography Tips
These sites can be popular with tour groups. If there is a cruise ship in it is going to be difficult to keep people out of the photo. Patience is the key. Or just go to another site (lots of things to photograph here) and come back later. Polarizing filter is very helpful.
Travel Information
Having your own car is the best bet to get here. If you come on a tour bus you will be challenged to have enough time to get a decent shot. Parking is anywhere off the road and free.
