Canada Lake Minnestimma
Lake Minnestimma is an alpine lake located above Moraine Lake in Banff National Park. It's a whole new perspective on the ten peaks that tower over Moraine Lake.
Photography Tips
Get there early! Sunrise is incredible. The light slowly creeps down the peaks of the mountains and the lake is as smooth as glass. Make sure you have a sturdy tripod and a few filters. I used my polarizer quite a bit while shooting here.
Travel Information
Drive 14 km from Lake Louise along the Moraine Lake Road. Begin just beyond the Moraine Lake Lodge. You will need to take the Larch Valley Trail which also connect to Sentinel Pass ( you will stop before it branches to that). They are quite steep switchbacks and there is a 535 m elevation gain over the ~4km hike. You will hike through the beautiful Larch Valley (gorgeous in the fall when the larches are a great yellow colour) and you will find the lake on the left hand side before the steep climb to Sentinel Pass.
