Since late 2012, the Deh Cho Bridge has been a safe, year-round road link across the Mackenzie River.
It used to be ferryed here in summer, and in winter there was an ice road. In spring and autumn, both for weeks or months was not possible if the ice was no longer or not yet strong enough but the ferry blocked. The Mackenzie River is not just a river, but a major river. It is the outflow of the vast Great Slave Lake and flows into the Arctic Ocean.
While I caputed the mighty bridge building, a Bald Eagle landed about 50 meters away.
