Chile Salar de Pedernales
At an altitude of 3,300 m, this salt lake spreads out against the backdrop of more than 5,000 m high Andean peaks. Only in places is it bright white. In open areas there are flamingos sharing the salt water with other water birds. On large areas, the crystallised salt has formed fascinating shapes and patterns under the intense sunlight.
