Finland Svedjehamn Viewing Tower
In the Vaasa region, a significant part of the population is Swedish-speaking. Traffic signs are bilingual, first Swedish, then Finnish. Northwest of Vaasa lies the island Replot in the Gulf of Bothnia. It can be reached on the road via bridges and dams. It is a small Sweden in Finland. Houses, farms, places, everything looks more like Sweden than to Finland.
At the end of Björkö is Svedjehamn with a boat harbour. Here is the Kvarken archipelago. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and extends to Sweden, around Umeå. Here, at the narrowest area of the Baltic Sea extension, the country raises by about one centimeter every year because the ice of the last great ice age no longer depresses it.
