France Salle Labrouste in the Bibliotheque national de France (BnF)
The Richelieu site includes a library, research spaces, and a museum accessible to all. This historic site of the Bibliothèque nationale de France is located in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris and has been renovated over the past 12 years (2010-2022). The work of the famous architect Henri Labrouste, the Salle Labrouste, has been a listed building since 1983. The reading room of the National Library of France (BnF) consists of nine domes decorated with ceramic tiles that distribute the light evenly. To support the vaults, iron arches resting on sixteen cast-iron columns give depth to this space. The combination of tones, colors and materials creates a stimulating and calming atmosphere.
