Germany Inside Pilgrimage Church of Maria Gern
This beautiful little church is mostly captured from the outside. Don't miss the oportunity to get inside and photograph the beauty of this place.
Photography Tips
There's only a small foyer that is open all the time. The rest of the church is locked behind bars. With smaller cameras (e.g. mirrorless) you can reach between these bars and take photos that are almost dead centered and allow for perfect symmetry. If you press your camera to the bars you can get real steady shots even for long-exposure shots and HDR brackets. Don't even try to use your tripod, it won't get you far unless you can angle your center column to reach through the bars. My tip: use something like a superclamp to perfectly fix your camera to the bars. This will be much easier than fiddling with a tripod.
Travel Information
Maria Gern is a very small town and has limited parking spaces. Use the one marked on the map. It is free and very close to the photo spot as well as other nice spots (check out Marxenhöhe!).
