Germany Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue European Reserve

This wood is anything but ordinary! I consider the Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue European reserve sensational. The loop of an old Rhine arm encloses the largest nature reserve in Hesse. It is also the largest contiguous floodplain along the Hessian bank of the Rhine. Therefore it has a lot of a jungle, but is well developed by hiking and biking trails.
Behind the jungle-like wood there is a long Apple alley. Many old apple trees line the path to the left and right. On an information board with the title "The edible treasure" it says: "Several thousand fruit trees grow on the Kühkopf, including many that are otherwise hard to find."

The parking area is on the opposite bank of the old Rhine arm at the outskirts of Stockstadt.
