Zollverein Coal Mine and Coking Plant in Essen was officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as “Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex”. It is said to be “the most beautiful coal mine in the world”, a landmark of the Ruhr area, a monument of industrial culture and symbol for the change of the largest coal mine in Europe into an attractive culture and business centre”.

Photography Tips

There are a lot of very extraordinary and photographically interesting places at this huge area. I would recommend a guided photo-tour through the coking plant, duration round about 3 hours where you can take all the time you need. Also a good place for available light photography.
