Iceland Northern lights spot
It is not totally dark because of the lighthouse light but if you're lucky enough & the forecast is good, you're still going to be able to see Aurora with your own eye. I did see the Aurora when I took this photo. (February 2018). Look north and wait!

Photography Tips
- you need a tripod!
- set your camera (and lens) to manual
- turn off image stabilization
- ISO 1600 is a good start
- the lowest F-stop possible
- shutter speed 10-15 seconds
- 2 seconds self-timer to prevent shaking
- infinity focus
The setting depends on how strong the Aurora is. With settings I described above, you should be able to capture the Aurora even when it is not visible by eye :) Good luck out there!
