Gullfoss (the golden waterfall) is part of the "Golden Circle" and therefore one of the most visited waterfalls in Iceland. He lives in the south of the country and isn't that far away from the Geysir Strokkur.
If you are lucky you can pretty often see a rainbow during sunny days because there is extremely much spray from the water.

Photography Tips

The most important thing for this waterfall is to use a tripod and don't change the frame until you are sure that you captured everything within your image without any people. This makes it a lot easier to remove them by just using the parts of the image that are without any people. Using an ND filter is usually not enough to remove all those people, so pay attention to this detail even if you are using one with exposure times beyond 30-60 seconds.

Extremely helpful for this waterfall is a shower cap that you can put on your lens between the shots because there is very much spraying from the water and you have to clean your lens pretty often.

The best time to be here is usually very early in the morning or later in the evening when there are not that many tourist busses.

Travel Information

The waterfall is very easy to find and has 2 pretty big parking places. The upper one is bigger, but if it's raining or if you are in a hurry I would recommend the other one because it's nearer to the Gullfoss waterfall and the signs only show the bigger one, so most people are not using this one.
