Iceland Viewpoint near Básar Camping, Þórsmörk

From this spot you have a nice view to the glacier in the south as well as the glacial river in the north. It is not as spectacular as the nearby Valahnúkur Viewpoint, but maybe you have no other choice (because of a booked tour like I did). You need to hike a bit from the camping place to reach this spot. There is a hiking trail starting with lots of stairs. The path is a roundtrip and ends at the camping ground after roundabout 2 km.

Both wide and tele lenses are useful here. Weather changes in a minute and hidden glaciers might show up behind clouds in a second.

The camping ground can only be reached by good 4x4 cars. A Dacia Duster wouldn't make it, since you have to do several tricky river crossings. A bus goes here and several of the superjeep tours.
