Ireland Dún Briste Sea Stack
The sea stack itself is just one reason to go. The panoramic views of the North Mayo coastline are splendid and the sunsets there are spectacular. The power of the waves crashing off the sea stack and cliffs is almost Hypnotic. I live close to the area and it is my go-to spot when I have an hour to spare with my camera.
Photography Tips
This is usually very windy so can be tricky sometimes to get long exposures so make sure your tripod is well weighed down. Be sure to keep your wits about you as sudden gusts can take you by surprise and there is a sheer 45-meter drop onto either rocks or water below depending on tides.
Travel Information
It is approximately 25 minute's drive from Ballina town and is well-signposted. There is a car park at the bottom and from there to the sea-stack is ten minute walk with a slight incline. There is a gravel walkway for the first part but just a grass path for the latter part which can get very slippery when wet. There are signs up as well explaining what danger signs to be aware of.
