This is the "Crohy Head Sea Arch" - a beautiful spot for landscape photography in Northern Ireland. This place is especially great for sunset photos and long exposures.

Photography Tips

Check the tides beforehand and always watch the water level!
Proper footwear is necessary as well!

The sea can be rough, so bringing some microfibre towels for cleaning your lens is recommended. A wide-angle lens works best here.

Travel Information

Easy to find by car. Follow the single-track road from the small seaside village of Maghery. There is just a short pull-in on the roadside for passing traffic and no official car park or even a possibility to park the car nearby! The best chances are to park in Maghery and walk along the road until you see a little sign marking the trail entrance. Cross the fence at the sign and follow the unmarked trail to the cliff. There is only one way to get down to the beach. Climbing down the hillside is not easy as the descent is very steep. It can be very slippery in wet weather - even with proper footwear. This spot is only recommended for experienced and fit hikers!

ATTENTION: The boulder beach at Crohy Head is only accessible at low tide. It is very dangerous at high tide as the beach disappears when water levels rise. You can get trapped easily; the sea is rough, and the waves are high!

It's not located in Northern Ireland but in Donegal, RoI.

The coordinates are wrong. Correct ones would be 54°54'54.6"N, 8°27'18.5"W

Great point, thank you very much! I just fixed this spot and Niko did add a lot of insights to it. Feel free to report a spot if something is wrong because then it's much easier to see for me.
