Italy Lake Pietranzoni
Lake Pietranzoni is a small body of water of glacial origin located in the municipal area of L'Aquila on the mid-plateau of Campo Imperatore, in a place characterized by morainic deposits and known as the Pietranzoni plain. It is entirely surrounded by the Gran Sasso d'Italia massif: to the north-west from the central ridge with the main peaks between Pizzo Cefalone, the crest of Monte Portella, Monte Aquila and Corno Grande, to the north-east from the eastern ridge is Monte Brancastello , Monte Prena and Monteicie and to the south from the southern offshoots of the massif.

Lake Pietranzoni is located adjacent to the road that reaches the hotel in Campo Imperatore, detaching itself from the state road 17 bis. It is about 18 km from Santo Stefano di Sessanio, 22 km from Assergi and the A24 motorway and 36 km from L'Aquila.
