Tips for your trip to Margaret Bridge

About the location

As the city's second-oldest public bridge, it is also the second-northernmost in Budapest. Margaret Bridge was designed by French engineer Ernest Goüin and completed in 1876. Unlike other Budapest bridges, it has a distinctive 30-degree bend at its midpoint, where it connects to Margaret Island. This unique design was necessary to accommodate the island’s location while ensuring smooth traffic flow between Buda and Pest.
