Netherlands The North Sea Coast, near Den Helder
When the sun sets in the west and severe weather has been forecast, this spot yields extremely powerful images. Take your rainproofs and go out when everybody stays in.
Photography Tips
Look for opportunities to catch the sun dipping below the clouds in the west, to see her cast her last light upon the underside of thunderstorm (cumulonimbus) clouds. After hailstorms, the sky is particularly colourful, ranging from magentas through reds to cyans from the hailcore inside the cloud.
Travel Information
Park near "Fort Kijkduin" and walk the beach southwards. Take shelter inside Nogal Wiedus for a warming cup of hot chocolate when the downlpour all becomes too much.
