Netherlands Maaspanorama Neer
It's not much more than a mark on the map. Yet there is no equal place in the Netherlands. 'Unique Maaspanorama' promise the brown tourist signs. Not a word was lied about that. The Maas has carved a real cliff in a large outer bend. You are no less than 12 meters above the river, so you can enjoy a wide view of the Maas valley, including nature reserve Rijkelse Bemden on the other side.
You can enjoy the view along the entire Schoor road. Wait for an icy morning with not too much wind; the Maas then forms one large fog machine. The light changes quickly, the fog gives and takes details. This is a description I made for the book (in Dutch) 'De mooiste fotolocaties van Zuid-Nederland'.

Photography Tips
From the height you have several options:
• With a panorama you can record the entire course of the Meuse.
• Zoom in on the wooded northern flank, giving you the idea of staring at a mountain lake far away in another land.
• The mill De Grauwe Beer and the church of Beesel are visible on your left. If necessary, use the existing trees for framing.
• Right in front of you you can see the church tower of Swalmen in combination with the entrance to the Dead Maas arm.
• There are radar beacons along the Maas, alienating elements in the fog. With a bit of luck there will be a cormorant on it.
• Finally, the Meuse itself with cargo or pleasure ships and waterfowl.
