Netherlands Martinitower view from Forum, Groningen
The Martini Tower, located on the Grote Markt, is the highest tower in the city of Groningen, at 96.8 meters. It belongs to the Martini Church. For the townspeople, the town's inhabitants, the building is nicknamed d'Olle Grieze, Groningen for the old gray one. The landmark can be seen from many different angles within the city, but not many locations offer a view from a higher ground since drones are prohibited.
Photography Tips
I wanted to take a photo of the Martini Tower in Groningen from a higher angle, but the options are minimal. Due to construction on the roof of the Forum Groningen, I could not visit it from the typical angle. It should be reopened soon and is free to visit. Instead, I went to the higher floors of the Forum and tried to get an angle of the tower from the inside. Its quite hard to shoot through the windows since they are very dirty and the reflections are hard to deal with. I used a sweatshirt to block most reflections off from behind the camera!
Travel Information
Please be aware of the opening hours of the Forum. The entrance itself is free of charge since there are multiple facilities inside you can visit. If the roof will reopen, it might be subject to a fee. In the basement near the entrance is an information desk and the employees are very friendly and helpful!
