New Zealand Panorama from Monument Hill, Lake Manapouri, New Zealand

This is a fantastic view point above Lake Manapouri in Fjordland, New Zealand with spectacular views of Lake Manapouri and the surrounding mountains.
The access is by boat or kayak only. So you really need to work for it. From the beach a walking trail leads up to the view point, The last 50m involve a scramble.

I went there during the day, but would be wonderful to explore sunrise and sunset.

This track starts and finishes in Hope Arm on Lake Manapouri, Fiordland, 2 km north of the Hope Arm Hut. To get to the start of the track you can travel by water taxi, private boat or kayak.
From the beach track marker, it is a short but challenging 290 metre climb to The Monument summit, through forest onto the ridge then above bushline. Extreme caution is advised as there are exposed sections with crumbling rock and narrow ledges. At one point there is a chain anchored into the rock to help you.

To get to Manapouri from Te Anau (21 km, 20 minutes drive), follow the Manapouri - Te Anau Highway.
