Orepuki Beach is designated as an attraction, because of 'Gemstones on the Beach'. Allegedly, sapphires, jasper and garnet should be washed on or off.
The beach is very nicely suitable for a walk. And indeed there are scattered everywhere, individually and in collections, attractive coloured and colourful patterned round cut stones, of which quite a few may be opals or other semi-precious stones.
In addition, some bizarre pieces of driftwood are washed up.
