New Zealand Waipapa Point Lighthouse
Waipapa Point is almost the southern most point of the South Island and according to different travel guides the most scenic of them. The typical New Zealand lighthouse stands on a tip into the sea with sandy beach, rocks and kelp just below. You can watch sea lions on the beach close up. Halfway from the parking lot to the lighthouse, a bit off the path, there is a row of trees crouched and tousled by the wind.
Photography Tips
Plenty of opportunities with the lighthouse, the sandy beach and the rocks, with birds, sea lions and the strange trees. Top location for sunset.
Travel Information
A road leads to the parking lot which is only a few meters away from the lighthouse. The lighthouse can be seen already from afar.
