Norway Sellåter, Morfjord
Lofoten is particularly suitable for observing and photographing the Northern Lights because the rugged, snow-covered mountains and the reflecting waters bring interesting additional aspects into the picture.
But many good Northern Lights locations are regularly crowded with too many photographers, often with accompanying disturbances.
At Morfjord, a bit off the beaten track, in the northeast of Lofoten, I discovered a good spot. Just south of the scattered settlement of Sellåter, the shore road is not overgrown with trees and bushes for a short distance, and the view of the fjord and across it is unobstructed. There are no lanterns or other disturbing artificial light sources along the road. Disturbance from vehicles is extremely rare, with a few artificial lights far enough away, across the fjord. Some space for parking one or two vehicles is also available.
And then I was also lucky with the (almost) full moon.
