Poland Jelonki inclined plane
On the Elbląg Canal (Kanał Elbląski / Oberland Canal) ships are pulled on mobile bases with ropes on five inclined planes to the next section of the canal.
Two rail cars run in opposite directions on each inclined plane as a cable car. While one carriage is being pulled up, the other is pulling down on the parallel rail. The wire ropes are diverted at the lower and upper stations over large pulleys and led into a machine house at the top. There the cable drum is driven by a large water wheel.
One of these inclined planes is located near Jelonki.
