Portugal The Guardians, Ribeira da Janela
This spot is great for sunrise pictures but works at sunset as well. Big waves break permanently purely on the round stones and so give great opportunities for dynamic long-exposure pictures.
Photography Tips
Getting there before dawn can be a bit dangerous with big surf as I did when I arrived I made sure that I was safe when the big waves came through. Take care of the green, mossy, and slippery stones. Wind angle lens 16-35mm 1/13 sec at f2.8 focal length 22 ISO 100 2 stop ND filter.
Use an ND filter to get the misty effect if that's your flavor.

Travel Information
It takes about an hour from Funchal in the morning to get there. The streets are in very good condition and with the new tunnel from south to north, the drive is a pleasure. Parking 100 meters from the location.
